In the SHS auditorium, Mark Gifford plays the Barton Theatre Organ. Originally used for silent movies in the Orpheum Theature, the organ moved to SHS in 1979 when the theatre was torn down. Mr. Gifford plays the organ in four concerts each year. During this performance, he opened with the Springfield Fight Song, which all sang with gusto. Carolyn Baldwin supplied the keyboard notation, since the song was originally scored for band. After an an array of ballads, Broadway tunes, Gershwin and other 50's hits, Mr. Gifford closed with a rousing finale: the Fight Song. A concert well worth hearing. (Judy Vicars Van Hagen)
